Home Facades, and How to Choose the Right Builder To Deliver

Choosing the right home facade is very important to most people preparing to build a new home.  People want their home to be beautiful, and this begins with that first view from the street.  This is one of the reasons that people visit Display Home Villages; so that they can see the appearance of the homes from the outside, and decide on one that appeals to them.  However, it’s rarely a good idea to let major decisions in life be driven by first appearances, and choosing a builder to deliver the look you love is no exception.  Here’s a few facts to keep in mind when it comes to home facades.

1. Facades are Fashion-Driven, so get to know your own style.

It is important for the discriminating home buyer to realise that facades are like most fashion trends.  Display Villages are created by Volume Builders and so they tend to dictate what’s a beautiful facade and what is not. Trends change, not unlike the dresses that are displayed on this year’s catwalks.  This is fine, but take some time to really get to know your own tastes, and familiarise yourself with what’s out there.  Look at magazines, look on line as well as at Display Homes, and get a sense of your own taste in home appearances.

2. Home Facades that you like are not difficult to achieve, and do not limit your choice in builders.

Most people think that creating a particular facade is a difficult thing to achieve.  They see a home that they like at an Open House, and think that the only way to get that facade is to hire that builder.  This will limit their options tremendously, and will steer them away from the small to medium builders who may provide them with a much better outcome – and will be also able to create the façade that they want.

3. Custom Builders will be able to work with you on the facade of your dreams, and provide a tailor-made outcome.

A Custom Builder won’t copy the exact facade of a home you have seen, and would not advocate this.  However, if you gather photos, brochures, and magazine articles that provide a clear picture of what is appealing to you, together with details of the block you wish to build on, and provide these to the builder, their designer will be able to understand the concept and tailor-make it to your situation.  Also the quality of the building, and the over-all experience of building your home is almost certain to be far better than what you will find with a Volume Builder.

So when you are considering the facade of your home-to-be, and see one that you fall in love with, take a photo but don’t make a decision – yet.  There are many home facades out there, and there are many important considerations in choosing a builder to deliver your new home.  The important thing to be aware of is that the builder who meets your criteria in other ways will also be able to deliver your own version of the facade that you love.
